Hypnosis
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a tool that combines focus, concentration and relaxation to promote positive change and personal growth. The use of progressive relaxation and guided imagery in hypnosis can help you to access a state of heightened awareness which allows the mind to be receptive to learning, change and creativity.
Using hypnosis to work with the subconscious mind can help to shift old thought patterns and behaviors, guiding you in using the imagination for creating and reinforcing new neural pathways and possibilities. Hypnosis can also offer an avenue for connecting with intuition, exploring your inner world, and discovering creative solutions and new perspectives in your life situation.
Hypnosis is similar to guided mediation, in that it teaches ways of calming and focusing the mind to relax and be present with your inner experience. We naturally experience states of hypnosis in our daily lives, like when concentrating intently on a task, meditating, daydreaming, or when doing activities that make us feel relaxed and "in the zone." Using that relaxed state of mind in an intentional way, we can also use positive suggestions and visualizations designed to target your goals and intentions for growth and change.
Some of the ways hypnosis can help:
-
Reducing stress
-
Training the mind & body for relaxation
-
Changing habits of thought and behavior
-
Enhancing self-esteem and self-worth
-
Activating creativity
-
Accessing motivation & inner resources
-
Generating personal growth & self awareness
-
Supporting those with health challenges through the mind-body connection
“The unconscious mind is decidedly simple, unaffected, straightforward and honest. It hasn’t got all of this facade, this veneer of what we call adult culture. It’s rather simple, rather childish. It is direct and free.” ~Milton Erikson
How It Works
We begin with an intake interview where we work together to understand and uncover the patterns that you would like to address and to create goals for our work together. From there we may proceed with an individually scripted session to re-pattern and reinforce your intentions for change. We may also use hypnosis to explore an inner dialogue with your subconscious mind so that you can gain deeper insight and understanding about an area of focus. I work with each client individually to determine an approach based on your goals and circumstances.
Sessions may be in-person in Wilmington, NC, or virtual on Zoom.
Contact me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. I can answer any further questions you may have in this initial call.
I do not use hypnosis to diagnose or treat medical or mental health issues, but as a tool for self-help and personal change. Hypnosis is not a replacement for medical or mental health treatment. You may benefit from using hypnosis as a complementary service in combination with other treatment modalities.
