What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness which allows the mind to be receptive to learning, change, and creativity. The deeply relaxed state of hypnosis can allow us to transcend the limitations of old thought patterns and behaviors. Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind and the imagination to create new neural pathways and possibilities. 

We will work towards the goals that you set for yourself, and I craft each script to meet your needs, values and preferences. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis - so with hypnotherapy you are learning to use the power of your own mind to create positive change.  Depending on your goals, you may benefit from one or several sessions to meet your desired outcome.

How It Works

The examples above are just some of the ways you can benefit from hypnotherapy.  Hypnotherapy is a versatile method that can be used to address any number of goals for personal growth and healing.  It can also help you to connect with different aspects self, to gain a deeper understanding of your inner world, and to access the inner resources that are already within you to help you find creative solutions and new perspectives in your life situation.

​I always begin with thorough intake interview where we work together to understand and uncover the patterns that you would like to address and to create clear intentions and goals for our work together.  I will also introduce you to the hypnotic experience. 


From there we will decide together how to proceed.  With suggestive therapy, we may proceed with an individually scripted session to re-pattern and reinforce your intentions for change.  We may also proceed with non-directive hypnosis in which we explore your inner world to gain deeper insight, understanding and connect with your own inner wisdom about an area of focus. I work with each client individually to determine the best course of action, so you may choose to come for multiple sessions for deeper levels of healing, or you may benefit from a limited number of suggestive therapy sessions to help you make a specific and desired adjustment in your life. 

Sessions may be in-person in Wilmington, NC, or virtual on Zoom.
